So I wanted to just check in and see how everyone's 2014 is going? Mine is going great. Started off a little rocky, but I sure as hell turned it on its feet. I can't believe what great things lie ahead for me, and how blessed I am for everything I have (and all the things that have yet to come).
First I am running away to Cambodia. I am so excited, as even with all the travel I've done, this is one place I've been dying to go for such a long time. I leave on Saturday, and when I come back I will dig into my book publishing stuff. There will be a book one way or another out this year.
As if those things in my immediate future aren't exciting enough, and my health as great as it has ever been in my entire life, I am looking forward to starting work on my second book which connects to the first. I also have something even bigger and so exciting on the horizon, but shhh....
Unfortunately, I cannot share it publicly. I will post about it closer to the time, bu
DD? *blushes*Thanks For The Spoilage:
I got a DD today on this photograph aswell. It's nice to think a few more people might be even looking around my gallery again too, especially when I feel my photography is getting better. Thanks once again Kaz-D! xoxo
I just got a lovely note from the fantastic Kaz-D to let me know that I came second in the dA Abstract Architecture Photography Contest. I am over the moon! You can see all the winners here: http://kaz-d.deviantart.com/journal/Abstract-Architecture-The-Results-267746042
It's been forever since I have won something with my art, and on my photography, well that just makes me feel even better. I sometimes wonder if things are worth uploading and this has just reminded me that you can be surprised what people find merit in.
Dearest Mister Gallagher:
There is something quite incredible about the moment when you discover that the right words and musical tones combined together have saved your soul. That
The Most Honest Me ...What It Takes:
So I'm sitting here, finally past the 40,000th word in a story I have finally picked up again after a few years. It has made me come face to face with the terrible truth that I've had my heart locked away for a decade as I approach the age of 28 in a couple of weeks.
Years ago I began a story. It was far from my own life. It was absolute fiction but to me the characters felt incredibly real. This was my first mistake, to base my main two characters on real people and put them in a situation that would never become reality.
Within a few months I had made it to my 30,000th word and had fallen so deeply in love with this impossibly perfect version of a person I loved in real life that when real life began to crush me it also crushed the life of the story. It was left to rot in a little text file fated to be forgotten.
It never was forgotten though, and neither was he. If it were that easy to forget the scars that had been left then the story would never have been pushed asi
Writing.Back To It:
I think it just seems that I needed all this time to take my mind out of the tunnel I was travelling to get my writing inspiration back. The 33,000 words (40 odd pages) that I had abandoned during some hard times has all of a sudden taken my interest again. It'd be nice to finish the story and make it complete. I'll add it to my year abroad to-do list.
Dreams to Reality:
My first trip booked: England and Ireland. Ireland always has been very high on my list, as has England. I'd liked to have done Scotland too but if I want my budget to take me to all the other places on my list (France, Netherlands, Italy, Greece, etc.) then I really have to balance my time and money. Oh my I love life!
Planning Is Hard:
So I'm sitting here in Hamburg, babysitting my nephew and waiting for him to wake up so we can go to the park together or maybe make a cubby house, haha. I'm sitting here thinking I should write a new journal and what better to write about than travel plans and what life ha
Hamburger.Ich Bin Ein Hamburger:
LOL. Qucik message: I made it. No jetlag. Got alot to take in, but all great! I'm looking forward to taking it easy, absorbing what's around me and then working out what I want to do next. Big hugs to all.
In Transit: Singapore:
Here I am, using free internet in Singapore Airport. First leg from Brisbane to Singapore a breeze. Slept most of it and had an entire row to myself. Lets hope the next leg is just as blissful. xoxo
I took two pictures today. The left is before (I do have a fringe - or some call it bangs - but was lazy and put my hair up in a headband) and on the right is the NEW ME! It's my new ID. Poll: http://emeraldsugar.deviantart.com/journal/poll/1888135/
Someone wants to buy some of my designs on T-shirts, so I finally spent the day doing up my old Cafepress store. It got a 100% overhaul and I think it was well worth it. Check it out: Click Here.

The Good News.23-FEB-2011:
I did another sweep of all my stuff to see what else could go to charity. lol. Got another two big garbage bags full. Feels so amazing to both give all this STUFF away and declutter my life. It's win-win. After all the furniture I gave away, now the books and clothes and stuff going has made my list of possessions lighter and also my heart. Nothing else new except I hope people are working on their Competition Entries.

Mary Cassatt"In art, what we want is the certainty that one spark of original genius shall not be extinguished."
Portrait of the Artist c. 1878
Mary Cassatt was born in Allegheny City (now part of Pittsburgh), Pennslyvania, USA on May 23, 1844. Her family was upper-middle-class, giving Mary the ability to travel Europe and later attend art school. Her schooling at the Pennslyvania Academy of Fine Arts lead her to believe one of the best ways she could learn was to copy the old masters.
The Mandolin Player c. 1872
In 1866, Mary finally got the opportunity to study abroad, but even then the prestigious Ecole des Beaux-Arts would not accept female students. Cassatt was also let down by the Salon and the conservatism of the Paris art world in general. After spending time studying and refining her techniques throughout the rest of Europe, Cassatt returned to Paris once aga
